Stars and Hats

A couple of recent Noah anecdotes.
“Stars”
Last night after our date I picked up Noah from Jo’s parents and brought him home, around 9ish. He hadn’t fallen asleep yet. When we got home he saw the stars, and so I pointed at some and said “there’s one, there’s another one.” He said “More? Stars?” So I took him in the back yard where it was darker & we could see better.
We did the same routine, pointed at some more stars, then I tickled him under the chin a couple times when he looked up. Then he looked up at a star and said, “Tickle?” I said “You mean ‘twinkle?’ Like ‘Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star?’” He said “Tickle?” I said “You want to tickle the star?” He said “Yeah.” So then we reached up and pretended to tickle the star. (He also attempted to tickle a new book that Jo bought him – apparently it’s his way of trying to socially interact w/ an object.)
I said it was time to go night-night and he said “more stars?” I said “well you can dream about stars tonight.” He said “dreeeeeeeaaaaam,” and did his version of the sign for dream.
“Hat”
Lately he’s been opening the hallway closet door and saying “hat” – and grabbing the first hat he can reach out of the little hanging storage thing we store the hats in, and putting it on.
The other day he picked a brown crocheted beanie, and today he picked out Jo’s cold weather headband. Later when we got to our friends’ house I tried to take it off him and he said “nnnNNNNOO!”
Then tonight when I was changing him into his PJ’s he said “hat?” and pointed at my head. I said “do you want to put your blanket on daddy’s head like a hat?” He said “yeah!” and he did. Then when I pulled out the diaper I put it on his head. Then we did a nice hip swinging dance, daddy with blanket on head, Noah with diaper on head. After the dance I tried to take the diaper off his head and he said “nnnNNNNOOO!” So I had to get a 2nd diaper from the drawer to put on him. Luckily he at least consented to me removing the diaper from his head before he went to bed.
